Staying In Your Home!
Home care services are becoming more and more an essential way of life for many of our senior population whom prefer to stay at home but caring for their own daily needs and maintenance of a safe home environment has become a difficult challenge. Many factors in every day life now limit their physical ability and mental capacities to do so without some assistance.
Home Care is a Non-Medical or Non Skilled service that is provided in the comfort of one’s own home! Loved ones can remain safely at home, while receiving assistance with Activities of Daily Living and Transportation that affords them the independence they strive to maintain.
Home Care Vs Home Health
Home Care and Home Health or Non-Skilled Vs Skilled Care at home are often used interchangeably because the care provided takes place in the client’s home. However, these are two distinctly different services being provided.
Home Care, Home Maker, Personal Care and Care Giver Services as they are often referred to, are services performed by caregivers for comfort & convenience for each client with the intent and purpose of making it safe for individuals to remain at home while utilizing assistance with Activities of Daily Living, Instrumental Activities of Daily Living and Personal Assistant Care. Recipients of these services typically do not need an “order or referral” from their physician nor are they covered by Medicare. Coverage for these services are provided by State Medicaid Programs, The Veterans Administration (VA) and some Long Term Insurance plans, otherwise it’s Private Pay.
Home Health Care refers to Medical or Skilled intervention. These services are provided by licensed professional staff like Nurses, Physical/Occupational/Speech Therapist, Doctors and Certified Nursing Assistants. The services include: IV and Medication Administration; Catheter, Wound, Tracheotomy, Ventilator Care; Rehab services for Post Stroke, Surgery, Cardiac Rehab and any other services requiring a Doctor’s order/referral and a licensed professional to deliver that care.
